Looking in the mirror What is it you see? Do you stop to ask yourself "Is that really me?" Can you recognize the face From 40 years ago? Or's that mug that's staring back No-one that you know? Some features have now disappeared Others merely dropped Somewhere I'm sure a clock out there Is waiting to be stopped You used to have a future It sparkled in your eyes Now the only thing that's there-- The dullness of demise You may as well accept it Stick out your tongue and sing Repeat with me this simple phrase: Boo! You pretty thing! Boo! You pretty thing! Boo! You pretty thing! Boo! You pretty thing! Boo! You pretty thing! Boo! You pretty thing!

You tell me my dream and I'll tell you yours: Nothing is lasting--nothing endures Your golden idol has feet of clay Nibiru comes and blows it away (Yes we know...yes we know...yes we know...yes we know) Imaginary wise men said that it's true To "ur" is human and so are you Add to the mix some old Mayan glyphs Hang on to your "buts"--there are no more "ifs" (Yes we know...yes we know...yes we know...yes we know) (bridge...into quasi miserlou) Nibiru...we hear you and obey ‘03 came--so what's the delay? 2012?--please make up your mind Turn off the lights, when you’ve wiped out mankind... Static and end.

Kitty saw a red airplane. The airplane was on a box. Kitty ran to the airplane. She looked at it. She wanted it to play. The airplane did not play. Kitty jumped on the box. Kitty said 'Mew, mew'. She jumped at the airplane. Down went the red airplane.

Strange things over Glasgow town The world's turned upside down Should have stayed indoors today When the clouds turned to orange from grey It's raining marmalade You're right to be afraid You're apt to lose your mind When drenched in citrus rind How do you feel? How do you feel? Did you bring an umbrella To ward off the peel? [Another voice, spoken]: I just arrived here from the coast— By chance would you have some buttered toast? This is worse than that oatmeal sleet Cars bogged down in the sticky street Golden slime everywhere I see I think I'll lay me doon & dee It's raining marmalade It's raining marmalade It's raining marmalade It's raining marmalade

I went downtown, to hear a man sing He played guitar, he broke a string I went and grabbed it quick as a breeze Girl she come up and said "pretty please Can I have it? Can I have it? Can I have it?" She got the ball end. Out on a date, late last night Went to a show, went for a bite I parked the car, gave her a squeeze Girl she squoze back and said "pretty please Can I have it? Can I have it? Can I have it?" She got the ball end. Some people lose, some people win Some always wind up with the ball end I really don't mind, I'm easy to tease Drop on all fours and say pretty please Can I have it? Can I have it? Can I have it? N' you'll get the ball end.

So Great! 04:14
So I think I'll go to the mall Uh huh huh huh uh huh huh Get some shirts and shoes and all Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm mmm Find some pants five sizes too big Uh huh huh huh uh huh huh All my friends will think it's sick Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm mmm So I saw an ad in the “Speakies Days” [Speakeasy Days??] And it said $5.00 off all the denim stuff And there’s a regular fit, an original work pant It’s like sale price for like $12.99 Don’t know where the money comes from Uh huh huh huh huh huh huh I can always steal from mom Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm mmm So my friend Steve had this RC hovercraft And said like if you change the motor out into my RC car It would go way faster but now both of them don’t work So we’re going down to the mall again and I found this Racing set, it’s got three cars in it! [Spoken: Russian comments] Got a 46” TV Uh huh huh huh uh huh huh With its broad-band big come on Uh huh huh huh huh huh huh Gotta find some cash, no joke! Uh huh huh huh huh huh huh Scotty just scored an ounce of smoke Uh huh huh huh huh huh huh So I’m like trying to convince my dad To go down to like Wilco because They’re having like a big percent sale off It’s like only four days and They’ve got this bogus 46” LCD and When you get the 73” home theater TV package You get the blu-ray player ,it’s like a Mitsubishi blu-ray player And if you pull that off and put on like “Tour of Duty” Or something, man that’d be so great!

You crawled into my life that day the 21st of June I'd asked you when you would be mine and you just told me "soon" We've been together fourteen months -- I still feel we're apart I ask again, please let me in Your cold three-chambered heart I know that we are different, I often chew my food You tend to swallow live things whole depending on your mood I know that you are listening -- I'm watching your tongue dart I'll ask again, please let me in Your cold three-chambered heart [Bridge] You're sluggish in the morning, I have to prod and goad And nights I often find you there just lying in the road I'm crazy not to end this but let's make a brand new start I ask again, please let me in Your cold three-chambered heart

Twistin' 04:20
See the girl dressed in green and plum Her partner's head just like a thumb She don't know but she's been told The streets of Philly are paved with gold Hey hey! What more can I say? She's twistin' her life away See the guy dancing with the Gog They wouldn't let him do the dog He's got a date to meet with Dr. Doom Tonight inside the Lido room Hey hey! What more can I say? He's twisted his life away [Bridge] You spend your time like the ghost of Albert Dekker; You yank your Hank 'til you've got a chubby checkered, pecker I see myself up on the stage High inside a tiny go-go cage; I do the frug, the monkey and the jerk-- C'mon baby watch me, watch me work Hey hey! What more can I say? I'd be twistin' my life away I'd be twistin' my life away You spend your time like the ghost of Albert Dekker; You yank your Hank 'til you've got a chubby checkered, pecker I see myself up on the stage High inside a tiny go-go cage; I do the frug, the monkey and the jerk-- C'mon baby watch me, watch me work Hey hey! What more can I say? I'd be twistin' my life away I'd be twistin' my life away I'd be twistin' my life away

Note: Transcribed to the best of my ability... Sitting in the back of my science class I'm tryin' not to fall off my chair I was dreaming of my own special place It was way out there Walking down a tiny little street I saw a flash of neon sign It said "Planet L.O.V.E. population all mine Y'all open up your science books to page 264 Don't be alarmed at the size of the head It's merely an exploded view of several mouth parts Planet L.O.V.E. is L-O-V- E Planet L.O.V.E. is just for me Down a tiny hole and walkin' through a tunnel Purple flares a flappin' I placed the metatarsals, stoppin' up the head A comin' from a little church Steel antennas sprang to attention Compound eyes wide with redemption I scuttled up the pulpit to face my flock The clog was a screamin' because the picture had arrived Been a lot of talk of mandibles lately The roll of digestive enzymes Y'all take note of picture 4-B Y'all mockin' me? Planet L.O.V.E. is L-O-V- E Planet L.O.V.E. is just for me Planet L.O.V.E. is L-O-V- E Planet L.O.V.E. is just for me Oh ya... all these nymphs in halter tops They've got me immune You know I've got a stout in central Bristol baby Don't be hiding in Himering Here's cornicles out Ooh! I'll show you some cornicles Is that your tarsis or a false leg baby? You got the pole-bility of a centerfold The advent of the inspect Christ should come as no surprise These late swing pollars noted by omission Compound eyes? Reflections from these facid beings through inter-stellar space And signal every horry thing in sight, it's hiding place A savior for the soul-less one. I must be mad you say Remember me when next you see the pious mantis pray

SPOKEN: Ladies and gentlemen, step right up and see the 8th wonder of the sideshow world--is she a male? Is he a female? Two distinct sexes in one body! Science can't explain it--you can't deny it! Only 2 bits--one quarter of a dollar gets you inside to see the amazing mighty hermaphrodite! I paid the man a quarter, and sat down by the stage The curtains parted to reveal a figure in a cage The left half was a woman--the right half was a man His right arm held a dumbbell, her left hand held a fan He curled the bar while all the while she did a hoochie dance And when they sang together--the crowd fell in a trance: Yin yang yin yang oooh Yin yang yin yang oooh I saw the act a dozen times until they threw me out That night I dreamed but can't recall just what it was about I didn't go to work that week I think I called in sick I couldn't rest until I figured how they did that trick A dozen explanations and all of them were wrong And all the time was haunted by that strange exotic song: Yin yang yin yang oooh Yin yang yin yang oooh A tailor sewed a half a tux to half a wedding gown Our civil ceremony was the talk of our small town He often helps me fix the car while she brings lemonade The perfect drinking buddy--the perfect little maid He still lifts weights while all the while she does the hoochie dance And when they sing together i now know true romance: Yin yang yin yang oooh Yin yang yin yang oooh Yin yang yin yang oooh (Repeat and fade)

It's no go on the rabbit hole-- The looking glass is broke And lazy wax amoebae Have replaced the hookah smoke It's Alice in the lava lamp--a tale for modern child To let imagination run to something less than mild T'was brillig and the temperature Well past the fever mark No Jabberwok comes whiffling Through the luminescent dark And Alice floats suspended like a bubble of some gas And slowly circumnavigates the churning hourglass Someday inside the lava lamp Our dreams may all come true I'll be someone much like myself And you'll be not like you And like dear little Alice, fast inside the glowing slime We'll be shape-shifting, dozing things, together for all time

about

"I know that we are different -- I often chew my food. You tend to swallow live things whole depending on your mood."

"Science can't explain it--you can't deny it!" Part of the intro to one of the numbers on this compilation, this seems to sum up the Mouth Parts philosophy. Fighting their way out of the stark urban jungle that was Redondo Beach in the '60s, the band has created an aural tribute to their past and their future. Again the selections run the gamut from the wistful (The Red Airplane) to the sublime (So Great!); from country (Cold Three-Chambered Heart) to psychedelic (Alice in the Lava Lamp); from Scotland (Marmalade Rain) to Germany (Superman Boogae). Each song tells a story--of lost love--or found love--or simply misplaced love. This album asks the listener to look in the mirror and tell it what you see...go ahead--we'll wait...well...it can't hear you, idiot--it's a piece of glass

Several Mouth Parts California

This South Bay / LA area group started in 1971 as the Buddytones. Noted for its odd music and bizarre stage antics, its greatest achievement was causing a 2000 person stampede at the Fox Long Beach Theater in 1972 during “The Penis Song”. They continued performing until 1975, and after a 30 year break started recording again. Now, musically perhaps a bit more polished, enjoy SMP at its finest! ... more
